Phiên bản My Cool Desktop 0.9 Beta có dung lượng 981,82KB, tương thích Windows 2000/ME/XP/Vista/7, được cung cấp miễn phí tại http://www.mycooldesktop.com/my-cool-desktop/MCD_Setup.exe.

Lưu ý: Muốn sử dụng My Cool Desktop bình thường trên Windows 7, bạn cần tắt tính năng tự động sắp xếp biểu tượng bằng cách: nhấn chuột phải vào desktop, chọn View rồi bỏ dấu kiểm tại hai mục Auto arrange icons và Align icons to grid.

Tại giao diện My Cool Desktop, bạn nhấp chọn một trong 27 mẫu sắp xếp biểu tượng tại khung All shapes. Chọn xong, bạn trở ra desktop để thấy sự thay đổi.

Nếu muốn điều chỉnh lại độ lớn của các biểu tượng trên desktop, bạn nhấn Increase size để tăng độ lớn, hay Decrease size để thu nhỏ lại. Ngoài ra, bạn có thể kéo khối hình biểu tượng sang vị trí khác trên desktop bằng cách nhấn vào bốn nút di chuyển dưới trường Change the shape position on the screen. Tiếp đó, bạn kéo thanh trượt tại hai mục Shape width vàHeight để thay đổi chiều rộng và chiều cao của khối hình chứa biểu tượng trên desktop. Thanh Space between icons cho phép bạn co giãn khoảng cách giữa các biểu tượng liền kề.

Lưu ý: Với các mẫu giao diện có chữ Locked, bạn chưa thể sử dụng ngay mà phải thực hiện qua các bước:

- Nhấn nút Click here to unlock this and 9 other shapes phía phải.

- Ở hộp thoại hiện ra, bạn nhấn Click to share My Cool Desktop on Facebook.

- Trong trang web vừa xuất hiện, bạn lần lượt nhấn vào hai liên kết: Share My Cool Desktop on facebook và Give me the unlock key.

- Xong, bạn sử dụng mã số trên trang web để điền vào ô Unlock key trên hộp thoại Unlocking 10 new shapes, rồi nhấnActivate.

Theo khuyến cáo của chương trình, bạn nên có tối thiểu 15 biểu tượng trên desktop, tốt nhất là 25 biểu tượng. Để My Cool Desktop tự động chạy mỗi khi khởi động vào Windows, bạn nhấn Options… và đánh dấu vào ô Open when Windows starts.

Muốn đưa desktop về cách sắp xếp như ban đầu, bạn nhấn Restore layouts, chọn thời điểm cần quay lại rồi nhấn Yes.

Replace Windows 7 Default Boot Screen Animation

There are plenty of options available in Windows 7 using which you can customize the appearance of your desktop and other icons but it is really difficult to customize the appearance of your Window 7 boot screen using inbuilt options. So for doing it, you can use a nifty tool named Windows 7 Boot Updater.

This tool is a freeware and allows you to change your Windows 7 boot screen animations and text. Using this tool, you can give a new look to your Windows while it boots up. This tool even doesn’t requires any installation and is portable i.e you can carry it on any portable device and then run on any PC. Windows 7 Boot Updater is written in C++/CLI and it requires .NET Framework 2.0 or higher and it will use the Windows WIM library.

This is the main window of this tool. You will need to run this tool as an admin else it won’t allow you to make changes. Now at the main window, two main options are given i.e Animation and Text. Now in Animation, this tool automatically Select bootress.dll file. The next option is to Select Animation. This option will let you choose any desires animation for your windows 7 boot screen.

There are plenty of animations available over web. You can try this Grayscale Animationwhich is given of this tool’s developer’s web page. So from next time when you boot up your system, you will see the new animation. You can even revert back to your original animation by downloading it from this link.

Now the next option available is Text. Here too, this tool automatically loads the Winload.exe file. Now below this option, two boxer are available with name Message and Copyright. You must have noticed this text when you boot up your system.

So you can change these two text by simply writing the new desired text in those two boxes. Once done with all these settings, click on Go to save this configuration and from the next boot up time, the changes will be reflected automatically. You can see an example below how your boot screen will appear when you apply the grey Windows 7 animation theme.

You can see these changes which I have applied using this tool. So in similar fashion, you can change animation and text.

Quick Organize, Filter Start Menu All Programs Into Categories

Windows 7 has become so much popular because of its number of new and innovative features but one of the feature which have not changed is the start menu. The icons and folders in Windows 7 start menu are as usual quite messy and it do takes lots of time to locate the applications folders and icon in the long list.

So if you don’t want to waste your time in searching for items in your start menu and , then today we will be telling you about a tool named Handy Start Menu using which you can group all the installed application under specific categories. Like I have clicked on AVG 8.5. Now on the right part of the tool, you can see the various categories which are available in this tool. Click on any category which you this is appropriate for that particular application and then that particular application will move to desired category. Similarly you can even change category of any item.

Once you are done with it, click on Ok and then from main window click on “Enable Improved Start Menu”. Then you Windows Explorer will restart in fractions of seconds and then open your Start Menu. You will find your start menu being categorized in respective groups and now it will be very easy and faster for you to locate any application.

You can anytime manage your items by simply clicking on Click to Manage the menu located in bottom of your start menu and then manage the items accordingly. This tool won’t affect the performance of you system. You can even revert back to your original menu anytime by simply click on this tool and then click on Return to Standard Start Menu.

Most of us usually get bored with the standard old look of the icons in windows. Especially, those who like to take so much care about the looks even if it is an icon of the operating system. These people like to personalize every single aspect in everything. Also, people who are tech-freak like to do the same with their computer looks.

Change Windows 7 Default Icons In Taskbar and Start Menu

With the huge popularity of Windows 7, the demand and popularity of tricks and tools which can be used to change appearance of Windows 7 is also increasing. We have earlier posted lots of articles like driver icon changer, taskbar tweeker, Aquasna and much more which you can use to change appearance of your Windows 7, so today we will be telling you about a new tool called 7Conifier which you can use to change icons of all programs in your start menu and taskbar.

7Conifier is a very simple and brilliant tool which can change icons of all your programs in start menu and taskbar in just few seconds. The manual way to do this is to go to program files and then change icon present in particular program file. But this tool will ease your job and will save lot of your time by changing icons in just single click.

When you run this tool, you will see a window as shown above. Always make sure to click on Yes and save your default configuration else if you don’t save your default configuration and then after using this tool you want to change your icons to default, it will become really tough for you to recover your default settings. Even if you Google this problem, you wont find any solution. But don’t worry, I will tell you about the solution of this problem too in the end.

So after clicking on “Yes” you will see a window like follow.

In the left part, as you can see above, you will see three preinstalled icon packages with name Eclipse 2, Token Dark and Token Light. The fourth is the Default one, which is your current icon appearance. So if you want to see the preview of icons for any of the preinstalled icon package, first select the package and then click on icons. Now you will see how your icons will appear after applying this package.

To see how it actually functions, you can have a look at following two snapshots.

So you can see that it have changed icons of explorer, media player and chrome. The two problem which I faced about this tool are that this tool is not changing the icons of my start menu and second is that, this tool is also not changing icons of some of my applications like windows live writer and SnagIt because for these programs there is no icons in default icon list of all packages.

The procedure to apply any desired package is first to select that package and then click on Apply button which is on top of screen. Then a dialog box will open as follows.

Click on apply and then within few seconds, your all icons will change according to desired package. You can even create your own package by clicking on Create Manually. You can even use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+M to create a package. After that, just add icon images for all programs whose icons you want to change and then save that package with a name. Then you will be able to use that package anytime in future.

Now I will tell you the solution of problem which I discussed in starting i.e how to recover your default icons if you forgot to save your default settings? To recover your default package, first select any package and then click on package which is located on top left menu and then click on edit package. After clicking on icons, select all the icon which is shown in the list by holing the Ctrl key and then click on use default icon which I have highlighted in following snapshot. After doing this for all icons save the changes and then apply this package. You will surely get back to your default configuration.

The size of this tool is around 2 Mb and it requires no installation. This tool is designed for all editions of Windows 7 and has been tested with above mentioned problem in windows 7- 32 bit edition with 1Gb RAM and 2.8 GHz processor.
